Warming 'could bring 1930s havoc'

Climate change will devastate the global economy on a scale of the two world wars and the depression of the 1930s if left unchecked, a British report has warned. Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore is enlisted as adviser to the Blair government on the issue.

Britain wants tighter limits on greenhouse gases by Europe and other rich countries as a first step toward establishing a global carbon trading system to help reduce the cost of climate change.
